Upholstery Course

The Upholstery course is run by Vicky Cable who has a Distinction in Level 2 and 3 Traditional Upholstery from the Upholstery Skills Centre in Stapleford Abbotts; she is also Creative Director of a furniture design studio. The course is for up to four people at a time to ensure near individual instruction and covers the basic principles and techniques of traditional and modern upholstery.

On the Introductory Course you will learn how to strip out the old covering of a dining chair drop-in seat and then recover the frame with webbing, hessian, coir hair and finally with calico prior to the final fabric covering. Once these basic techniques have been mastered you will feel confident to undertake similar upholstery projects.

The three day term course is held on three consecutive Wednesdays and will start on day one with the Introductory Course followed by two days intensive training to upholster stools and covered seats. You will learn how to use the correct tools and implement the craft techniques required to produce a standard you will feel justifiably proud of to show to your friends.

The one day Introductory course costs £150
The Three Day Term course costs £400
Commences at 9.00am and finishes at 5.00pm

All refreshments and lunch are provided and prepared from our own home grown produce
